Our Club Site at Ravenglass was once part of the Muncaster Estate. Set in six acres of mature woodland, it lies on the outskirts of the pretty fishing village which shares its name, in a quieter area of the Lake District National Park. The area is a walkers' paradise on Cumbria's western coast. The seafront is 500 yards from the camp site - with opportunities for fishing. The village of Ravenglass has a craft shop, pubs and a lovely natural harbour. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway - Laal Ratty - is a narrow gauge railway running up to 16 trains a day. Muncaster Castle is a great family day out and includes the World Owl Centre and MeadowVole Maze. A Roman bathhouse is 500m from the Site and marks the start of the Hadrian's Cycle Way route 72. Whitehaven is an attractive town with a working fishing harbour. Most pitches are hardstanding. Tent bookings must be made directly with the site. Nearby Attractions The Beacon is the new attraction in Whitehaven. Five floors of interactive history, weather, games and much more. Wastwater, winner of ITV's Britain's Favourite View, is particularly peaceful. It can only be reached from the west. The village of St Bees - at Cumbria's most westerly point - has a beautiful sandy beach. Maryport Aquarium also has radio-controlled boats and mini-golf. The mainline railway travels along the coast, reaching Sellafield, St Bees, Whitehaven and Maryport
